Fumihiro Itani has been engaged in sound since 1985, working across sound engineering, live recording, and field recording. In 1989, he joined an audio study tour in the UK, visiting world-renowned studios such as Abbey Road, Real World, and Britannia Row. In 1991, he founded a music production office, producing commercial songs, radio programs, and event sound.

In 1997, he participated in DCS led by Fumitaka Morita (former chief editor of ProSound magazine), contributing to the multimedia design of Vessel Ochi Grand Hall. In the same year, he served as an operator at a summer school featuring an Academy Award–winning sound editor from Lucasfilm. Around this time, he began field recording across Japan, collecting “soundscapes.”

In 1998, he worked as a sound engineer for Waikis, a band that appeared eight consecutive times at the Edinburgh Festival—one of the world’s top ten music festivals—and won the Best Band Award.

In 2006, he produced the “Cross-Century Event,” connecting New York and Takamatsu’s Sunport via live online broadcast. The project was reported worldwide through Kyodo News, bringing regional culture to global attention. Since 2008, he has also worked in film sound recording and sound design. In 2016, he based his activities in Kamakura, documenting the sounds of the Shonan area. In 2017, he recorded DEEN’s 47-prefecture nationwide tour, and in 2018 launched the Kamakura FM radio program Seaside Avenue. Since 2021, Itani has been a lecturer for the inquiry-based learning program at Tokushima Prefectural Ikeda High School, promoting tourism through innovative approaches using sound as a cultural resource.

In 2022, he recorded a Sanukite performance by legendary theater musician Toshiyuki Tsuchitori, staged on a beach.
In 2023, he documented the memorial performance Ma for architect Arata Isozaki at the Enoura Observatory, featuring leading Gagaku musicians of Japan and master performers from Iran. In 2024, he handled the sound and recording for I-On-Do-Jin, a transcendent concert featuring Sanukite (performed by Tsuchitori) and cello (performed by Eric-Maria Couturier). In 2025, he was responsible for sound engineering and live recording for Spiral Arms.

Also in 2025, as part of regional revitalization efforts, he collaborated with high school students and a welfare facility to produce a radio program. The project, in which “a person who cannot speak delivers radio talk through AI,” has been noted as a symbolic initiative demonstrating that “even in rural areas, and even with challenges such as caregiving or disabilities, it is still possible to achieve.”

On July 31, 2025, he organized and operated the environmental symposium Bridge to the Future of Life, which connected Mugi, Tokushima (Murokosu Mugi) and Yokosuka, Kanagawa (Tenjinjima Marine Education Center) online. The symposium, designed for parents and children, focused on exploring coexistence between humans and nature.

He also contributed recorded sound archives of Kamiyo Odori, a UNESCO-designated Intangible Cultural Heritage, to the Tokushima Prefectural Museum, supporting the preservation and transmission of regional culture.

庵谷文博（イタニフミヒロ）「シーサイドアベニュー」代表（企画・制作・提供）

「自然を舞台にした演奏録音」の分野において独自の地位を築き、森や海辺、洞窟、島など多様な環境での収録を実現。2022年の「浜辺のサヌカイト」から、ピーター・ブルック国際劇団（CIRT）の音楽監督を20年以上務めた打楽器奏者・土取利行氏とのプロジェクトに関わり、自然の響きと演奏を同時に記録する革新的な手法を確立した。さらに、レコーディングで培ったマイキング技術とイマーシブオーディオを駆使した「公開レコーディング音響」は、庵谷独自の手法として高い評価を受けている。近年は「耳観（じかん）」という哲学を掲げ、自然と音楽、人間とAIの共生をテーマに活動を広げている。

1985年より音響に携わり、音響＆ライブレコーディング、フィールド録音まで幅広く活動。1989年、英国オーディオ視察研修ツアーに参加し、世界最高峰アビーロードスタジオ、リアルワールド、ブロタニアロウなどを訪問。1991年、音楽制作事務所を設立。CMソング、ラジオ番組、イベント音響を手がける。

1997年、元プロサウンド編集長・森田文隆氏のDCSに参加し、ベッセルおおち大ホールのマルチメディア部門基本設計に関わる。同年夏、ルーカスフィルムのアカデミー音響編集賞受賞者を招いたサマースクールでオペレーターを担当。この頃から各地のフィールドレコーディングに取り組み、「音風景」を収集し始める。

1998年、スコットランドが誇る世界10大音楽祭・エジンバラ・フェスティバルに連続8回出場し、最優秀バンド賞を受賞した「ワイキス」の音響を担当。

2006年、第2回「世紀超えイベント」を統括プロデュースし、NYとサンポート高松をオンライン中継。共同通信を通じて全世界に報道され、地域を盛り上げた。2008年以降は映画の収録・サウンドデザインにも参加。2016年、鎌倉に拠点を置き湘南鎌倉の音を収集。2017年、DEEN 47都道府県ツアーでレコーディングを担当。2018年、鎌倉FM「シーサイドアベニュー」を開始。2021年より徳島県立池田高等学校の探求授業の講師を担当し、「音を観光資源とする」新たなアプローチで観光推進に携わる。

2022年、演劇音楽の巨匠・土取利行氏によるサヌカイト演奏を浜辺を舞台にレコーディング。2023年、江之浦測候所で行われた磯崎新氏追悼記念公演『間』のレコーディングを担当（日本を代表する雅楽奏者とイランを代表する演奏家が共演）。2024年、「異音同塵」古代石サヌカイト＆チェロ異次元コンサート（出演：土取利行／エリック・マリア・クテュリエ）の音響・レコーディングを担当。2025年、スパイラルアームズの音響＆ライブレコーディングを担当。

同年には地方創生を目的に高校生や障がい者福祉施設と協働し、ラジオ番組を制作。「話せない人がAIの力でラジオトークする」という取り組みは、「不便な地方でも、介護や子育てでハンディのある人でもやればできる」を象徴する事業として注目を集めている。さらに7月31日には「いのちを未来へと繋ぐ架け橋」と題し、徳島県牟岐町「モラスコむぎ」と横須賀市「天神島臨海自然教育園」をオンラインで結んだ「親子で考える環境シンポジウム」を主催・企画・進行・オペレーション。自然と人間の共生をテーマに新たな場を創出した。また、ユネスコ無形文化遺産に登録された「神代踊り」の収録音源を徳島県立博物館に寄与し、地域文化の保存と継承にも貢献している。
